A few hours after the 5.2 magnitude aftershock in Nepal, a major earthquake of magnitude 6.4 has hit Taiwan near Kao-hsiung, at 19:57:26.30 UTC on Feb 5, 2016. The epicenter is 40km southeast of Tainan. Tainan is populated by 2 million people.
According to initial reports, multiple buildings have collapsed and number of casualties is unknown.

Several residents of Kathmandu and around tweeted today that significant tremors were felt and people came out of their shelters in panic. This is another major aftershock (which are occurring monthly) with a magnitude of 5.2, 16km North-West of Kathmandu.
The mega earthquake of magnitude 8.6 that shook the whole of Nepal in April 25, 2015 claimed 8,000 lives and left more than 20,000 homeless. This also destroyed major historical monuments like Dharahara, Swayambhu, temples etc. in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur area. The earthquake also triggered avalance in Mount Everest killing more than 19 mountaineers.
