A few hours after the 5.2 magnitude aftershock in Nepal, a major earthquake of magnitude 6.4 has hit Taiwan near Kao-hsiung, at 19:57:26.30 UTC on Feb 5, 2016. The epicenter is 40km southeast of Tainan. Tainan is populated by 2 million people.

According to initial reports, multiple buildings have collapsed and number of casualties is unknown.
